A: To make a counseling appointment, call reception at (504) 831-8475 and ask to speak to an “intake social worker,” or the social worker designated to receive incoming calls. It is possible that this individual may be in session at the time you call; in this case, it is best to leave a confidential voice mail, and they will return your call promptly. Most calls are returned within 48 hours, although this may vary.
Q: Does JFS offer a sliding scale?
A: Yes, most services at JFS are offered on a sliding fee scale that is determined by your social worker based on income.
Q: Does JFS accept insurance?
A: It depends on your insurance company. However, all services are offered on a sliding fee scale.
Q: Does JFS Accept Medicaid?
A: We accept a medicaid waiver for the Lifeline program only.
Q: Does JFS Accept Medicare?
A: We accept medicare for counseling services in some circumstances. You can discuss this with your social worker.
Q: Does JFS prescribe medication?
A: No; there is currently no Psychiatrist on staff.
