In celebration of Passover, JFS organizes an annual Passover Food Basket event. The Sunday before Pesach 2008 found dozens of eager JFS volunteers sorting food items, packing boxes of kosher food, and having a great time! Children and teens decorated bags and cards, while adults sorted matzah boxes and jars of gefilte fish.
This collaborative event is a very important part of Passover at JFS.
Just in time for the Jewish New Year, JFS distributes Rosh Hashana gift bags consisting of challah, apples, honey, honey cake and a handmade holiday card.
These friendly gifts are meant to be a warm sentiment to connect the local Jewish Community.
“Literacy & Latkes” was launched in 2008. Community religious schools, synagogues, NOJDS, and JCC nursery school participate in a book drive, collecting children’s books for local school children to read.
