Helping Hand Grant Program
The JEF Helping Hand Grant Program is designed to assist families and individuals who find themselves in a temporary financial crisis. It is funded with donations received from individuals and synagogues throughout the United States and is administered by Jewish Family Service.
Eligibility requirements for this grant include: Jewish adults over the age of 21; currently living in the Greater New Orleans area; permanent resident of Greater New Orleans at least one year prior to Hurricane Katrina. Priority will be given, but not limited to, assistance with rent, utilities, food, transportation, medical expenses and child/adult day care
To apply for this grant, individuals need to complete an application form followed by an in-person meeting with Jewish Family Service. Proof of income, expenses, assets and liabilities is needed for the application. All grant applications are reviewed on a confidential and individual basis.
