Counseling -- Guidance and psychotherapy for individuals and families on how to cope with interpersonal and family problems. Our staff of 5 therapists has specialties in working with children, adolescents, adults and couples. Counseling is provided on an individual and group basis. Our groups include: "Coping With Divorce" for children and parents whose families are divorcing, "When You're the One Left Behind" for people who have survived the suicide of a loved one, and "Motherless Daughters" for women whose mothers have died. All of our counseling services are available to the community at large on a sliding fee scale.

Teen Suicide Prevention -- A school based suicide awareness and intervention program. Jewish Family Service trains volunteers and school staff to: (1) teach the 4-part curriculum we developed that outlines the warning signs of depression and suicidal behavior, (2) be able to identify those students who may be at risk for depression or suicidal ideation, and (3) refer students and their families to appropriate help.The program is called Teen Life Counts and is available to all area public, private and parochial high schools. There is no cost to the schools for training or to have the program presented.

Homemaker -- Weekly housekeeping and transportation service for frail elderly. The program is open to the community at large; fees are on a sliding scale.

Lifeline -- Electronic emergency response system. At the touch of a button worn around his/her neck an elderly or disabled person is in instant communication with the response center that has information regarding the person's medical condition. Appropriate help is immediately summoned. This program is open to the community at large; fees are on a sliding scale.

Case Management -- Assistance for older adults and their families in planning long-term care. The case manager conducts an in-depth assessment of physical and social needs, reviews financial issues, recommends short and long term living options, and monitors on-going services. This program is open to the community at large on a fee for service basis.

Catch-A-Cab -- Funded by an anonymous donor through the Jewish Endowment Foundation, the program allows all Jewish older adults to purchase up to $20 per month of taxi coupons for $5.

Adoption -- As a licensed adoption agency we provide home studies and follow-up supervision for domestic and international adoptions. Open to the community at large on a fee for service basis.

Continuing Professional Education -- Educational seminars and workshops with some of the country's leading mental health professionals. Programs are geared to the continuing education needs of the local mental health community.

Outreach To Interfaith Families --Specialized counseling is availible for interfaith couples who are engaged or married. Several times a year we partner with various synagogues to provide discussion groups that help the Jewish community welcome and fully embrace all members of interfaith families into Jewish life. |

Refugee Resettlement -- Translation and transportation for elderly refugees from the former Soviet Union who were resettled by Jewish Family Service.

Passover Food Baskets/Rosh Hashana Bags/Light One Candle for Tzedakah -- Providing holiday food and ritual items to Jewish families in financial need, to nursing home residents and others who need help in celebrating holidays. Light One Candle is an opportunity to share the joy of Hanukkah with families in need.

Financial Assistance -- Cash grants and interest free loans to Jewish families and individuals in crisis. Assistance is given for rent, utilities, food, medicine and other basic necessities. Indigent burials are provided under this program.
