Counseling

JFS counseling services are designed to provide guidance and psychotherapy for individuals and families on how to cope with interpersonal and family problems. Our staff of 10 counselors specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults and couples. Counseling is provided on an individual and group basis. All of our counseling services are available to the Greater New Orleans community on a sliding fee scale.

Therapists are all Masters level mental health professionals, either social workers or professional counselors. They are well-trained and up-to-date on the newest Best Practices standards and evidence-based protocols. JFS therapists use a variety of treatment modalities depending on client needs that include but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an innovative treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Insight-oriented psychotherapy

The desired result of counseling is that clients will be better equipped for:

  • Coping with stress
  • Managing anger
