Dear Friend of Jewish Family Service,
We write to update you on the work of Jewish Family Service for 2009. So far this year, your agency has helped over 6,000 people in the Greater New Orleans area.
Thanks to you, members of our community received financial grants to assist them in perilous financial times and interest-free loans to help keep their businesses vibrant.
Thanks to you, teens were taught by Teen Life Counts volunteers how to recognize warning signs and help their friends who are depressed or thinking of suicide.
Thanks to you, older adults were given the tools to stay safely and independently in their own homes by using Lifeline and Homemaker services.
Thanks to you, members of our community with family and personal crises like depression, anxiety, and bereavement received the counseling they sought.
Thanks to you, we’ve been able to help…
Julia, a 69-year-old woman struggling to cope with the demands of caring for her ailing husband. Therapy has helped her manage her anxiety, develop coping skills to handle the stress of full-time caregiving, and process feelings of grief and loss related to her husband’s illness.
Robert, a 28-year-old man with Autism Spectum Disorder. With therapy and case management, Robert has successfully secured an array of community services which allow him to remain independent and productive
Paula, a 60 year old woman who suffers from chronic mental illness is aided by her homemaker in organizing and maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment.
Jacob is a 78 year old man who struggles with his own health problems while caring for his wife who has had MS for 27 years. Jacob reports that the homemaker’s kindness, efficiency and warmth is what enables them to remain independent at home together
There is an increasing need for the services that JFS provides to our community. Our challenge as an agency continues to be meeting the growing needs of our community. In order to provide services at our current level, it is crucial that we receive your continued support.
What can you do to help?
Because of your generosity and commitment to Tikkun Olam, we have been able to help so many. In the coming year we need your help to continue this level of caring for the community you love.
Please join in the Friends of Jewish Family Service fundraising drive for 2010.
